2004 Has Been a Good Year!
We (Macedonia) had a board meeting this past Monday evening. The clerk was giving a report for the year so far. One of the interesting bits of information was that we have baptized 27 people into the Seventh-day Adventist Church this year!!! Isn't that awesome?! We didn't even realize it. We would baptize a few here and a few there. And it has just added up.
To be honest, I was excited that even I was surprised because that's what my brother-in-law Puck and I have always talked about. We want the folk to come steadily. They are assimilated into the life of the church much more naturally when they come steadily rather than in large quantities. It's easier to lose some when they come all at once.
I thank God for Net 2004 and other events like it because they are "reaping meetings." But they underscore the importance of sewing seed on a regular basis all throughout the year. We had a decent baptism after Net 2004, but it was in large part because we already had people in the pike from before it even started. To rephrase the Apostle Paul: I planted, Walt watered, but God gave the increase.
I was looking at our financial statements for this year. Again, God has blessed us tremendously. We are operating well into the black! It's a good feeling to look forward to a new year not having to worry about whether or not we can pay our light bill.
"This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes" (Psalm 118:23).
