 I am coming to the end of my first social media free day. Spencer called earlier today to thank me for approving a shopping app in the Apple App Store and to wish me a happy birthday. he said he read aout my "detox" and supported it. 

i'm not sure I like that characterization. if I have to "detox" then maybe I shouldn't be on social media at all! we detox from the use of recreational drugs that have caused us to lose control of our lives. 

that wasn't the term that cal newport used. so i'm not crazy about it being seen that way. I conceded that perhaps it's the other side of the same coin. I prefer to to think that I am engaging in "digital solitude" sot that I might emerge from this month with greater clarity for my life and ministry in 2024. 

people will interpret this however they like. this is yet still a free country. if it helps them, so be it.

so how was day one? i'm fine. it was a busy day with the early learning center being without a director.

however, mrs tammi came and was so very helpful. then ms. murphy came from about 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

and miss cierra drummond was with us from childcare careers. she's loving. 

ev and kaelyn came over to the office. kaelyn's stomach was hurting. she started to feel better after ev showed her some attention with her simple kindness and remedies. I gave her some tea and ev massaged her a bit. 

the family took me out to longhorn steakhouse for a birthday dinner. I appreciate that.
