Insecure

Acts 13:45 “when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.”

In just a few verses Paul and Barnabas are going to inform the Jews that they have fulfilled their obligation to share the Gospel with them. It’s time for them to carry the Gospel to some Gentiles who will gladly receive it.

It’s sad that jealousy was so strong an emotion that it so clouded their judgment that they felt justified in violating the 9th commandment. These are Jews. If they didn’t believe in Jesus, they did believe in the 10 Commandments! But they let jealousy blind them to the will of God that was being done despite their discomfort with its implications for the religion with which they had grown so comfortable.

LORD, help me not to be jealous and cause others to miss Your blessings because I am too caught up in my insecurities about no longer being in the limelight.
